You have to play here in the summer months starting in April after we’ve had a few good rains and some warmer weather. The greens start to perk up nicely at which point this course becomes a tremendous value. You come between November-March, you’ll be disappointed. I hear they’ve brought a new greens keeper into the fold, so I’m interested to see how that pans out. Other than that, there’s nothing wrong with this course. The staff and management are some of the friendliest you’ll find and if you play here often they’ll make you feel like family. Nice big clubhouse. Very nice matted driving range with two practice greens. Wide tree-lined fairways with almost no rough to speak of but roots can present a challenge. Almost every green has an entrance so good shots are rewarded with fairly easy approaches. A couple of drivable par 4s and most par 5s are reachable in two. If you come at the right part of the season, Oakhurst is one of the best values in Greater Houston IMO.
