Bennett Rouse
handicap 9.0
This was the last stop on our NC golf trip and this course was definitely one of the highlights. Even though it was February, this course was in immaculate shape. The design was challenging enough, especially on the front 9, with plenty of water and beautifully maintained bunkers everywhere, but the greens were the biggest challenge. They roll true, very fast and were in pristine condition. We will absolutely include this and other courses at Talamore on our next trip.
Several pins were too punitive today. They might need more than three zones on the green sheet.
We had several well struck approach shots hit with wedges that landed inside 15’ but rolled off the green into trouble.
We had a large outing ranging from a couple +1’s to 28 handicaps. We played tees from Blue to Green based handicap. Even with a double bogey max format, the average score was 5 strokes higher than the player’s handicap.
