This course is really impressive. I played a couple of weeks ago when I was in town and it was in phenomenal shape. Perfect tee boxes, lush fairways, not particularly deep but deceivingly difficulty rough, and pristine greens. The course is on the shorter side, there are few water hazards/etc, large greens so it gives the impression that this will be an easy track. Then you start putting. Greens roll pure as can be, but are lightning face with lots of undulations and can be difficult to read. The day I played the pin placements were brutally challenging with several holes if you found yourself above the hole if you rolled one two feet past you were off the green. Most challenging greens I have ever played, and that includes some TPC courses.
And the price was insanely low. I live in FL, and a course in this type of condition around me would be easily 3x the cost of what it was to play at Venango Valley.
Truly a gem. Also, the food in the restaurant/bar is fantastic.

Great course with huge greens, better practice putting before this round! Day we played the green were lightning fast, but beautiful, well maintained and a good challenge!
