Greens are awfully pock-marked from poor upkeep and patrons not knowing how to fix a proper divot. Sand traps are extra punishing, especially around the greens, because there is no actual sand, and if you hit into fairway bunkers you and you play expensive forged irons, you’re better off taking your medicine and chipping out with a wedge unless you want dented, scratched up clubs. Overall, if you can hit the green stuff, you’re fine, but be prepared for inconsistent greens, both in speeds and direction changes.
