This week the PGA Tour mows through Silvis, Indiana for The John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run. Take a look at this week's recommended DraftKings plays.

Key Stats for : SG: Off the Tee / DK Scoring / Proximity 125-150 / Bogey Avoidance

Lock of the week:

Zach Johnson $11,200 - T5, T34, T3, 2, T2, Win. That there folks is THE definition of a course horse.  ZJ has absolutely blistered the field here, gaining a whopping 53 strokes on the field in his last five starts at the John Deere Classic. Zach is coming off a 2-week break but played very well in his last two starts at the Travelers and US Open and we expect that play to continue this week. He is also checking boxes for us in several of our key stats for the week including DraftKings Scoring, Birdie or Better %, and Proximity from 125-150 yards out. That being said, in the words of the great Ron Popeil in regards to rostering ZJ this week, “set it and forget it!”

Value Plays:

Chesson Hadley $9,500 - Our boy Chesson went thru a rough stretch a few weeks ago with missed cuts in two straight events at the Travelers and the, obviously tough, US Open at Shinnecock. He got back into form though with a T8 at the QuickenLoans just a couple weeks ago. We’ve also seen his ownership percentages dip a little after the rough stretch, so we feel he is great value from that standpoint plus he is just one of the class players in this field relative to form. Taking a look at key stats, Chesson is #1 in the field as well in both Birdie or Better% and DK scoring and also in the top 10 in bogey avoidance so he should keep up with all the scoring this week and rarely put himself out of position to make bogeys.

Joel Dahmen $7,600 - If we have seen anything the past few weeks it’s that there are several “fringe” players that aren’t particularly competitive in strong field events, but shine in the weaker fields as we have again this week. Joel Dahmen is one of those players. He has been right up there in contention and we are getting him at a discounted price relative to the field. That being the case we’ll continue to ride his hot streak until he bucks us!

Stephan Jaeger $7,100 - Jaegermeister was one of the hot rookies on tour last year but we really haven’t had him pop that much in our research so far in 2018. That changes though this week as he is coming in on decent form, with a top 15 finish just a couple weeks ago. He also checks the boxes for us in DK Scoring, Birdie or Better %, Proximity from 125-150, and Bogey Avoidance. Those kinds of numbers tell us Stephan should definitely perform well on this course and we expect extremely low ownership making him a great GPP lineup option this week.

Best bargain basement option:

All jokes aside J.J. played really well at the JD Classic last year finishing in the top 10 with all 4 rounds in the 60’s, including a 64 in the 2nd round. He’s also coming in on good form with a T21 last week at the Greenbrier. Taking a look at the stats, Mr. Henry is checking boxes for us in Strokes Gained off the Tee and Driving Accuracy. We expect J.J. to at least make the cut and perhaps even get into the top 25 on Sunday which is all you need from a guy in his price range. Bome.

Player to Avoid:

Francesco Molinari $11,600 - The theme for us over the last 3 weeks of weak field events has been to fade the top priced guy to allow for a more balanced lineup and it has definitely paid off. Thus, we will continue that strategy despite the incredible play Molinari has shown recently. The British Open looms also next week and Francesco is one of the favorites to win so you could see him a little distracted and looking ahead. Yes we know, Molinari is a competitor and will be looking to win any time he tees it up, but we have seen plenty of times where the top guys playing a week before a major (especially one overseas) mail it in on Friday if they get off to a poor start so they can get that head start across the pond. dddf
