Fantasy Golf on DraftKings - AT&T Byron Nelson

Lock of the week:

Dustin Johnson $12,500 - We faded DJ last week at The Players, and given his ownership percentage and price tag, that paid off. This week, we are playing him as the highest priced golfer on DraftKings. He enjoys this track, and despite it being a less than driver type course off the tee, he plays well here. Not sure if you noticed, but DJ hit a couple of “driving irons” off the tee at TPC over 280 yards! Sign us up! Plus, if this course gets some rain (which is forecasted), it makes DJ’s edge that much greater. Considering there are a couple of value plays in the sub $7K range this week, we’ll be playing DJ in quite a bit of GPP lineups.

Value Plays

Charley Hoffman $8,500 - Charley is known as a ball striker (which you will need here with windy conditions). He’s in decent form coming off a T30 at TPC. In the last 5 years at the AT&T Byron Nelson, he’s made four of four cuts with two top 10’s. He’s also top 10 in the field for gaining strokes putting at this event over the last few years. Needless to say, he likes Texas and he likes this course. We love him in GPP’s and cash lineups.

Gary Woodland $7,700 - Gary’s had some documented off the course distractions lately which has taken him out of the tremendous form he was in during the beginning of the year. The MDF at TPC last week may throw people off of him in GPP’s, but we are loading up. He’s gaining strokes off the tee, approaching the green, and on par 4 scoring efficiency. He’s made five straight cuts at this event with one top 10, and he’s top 10 in strokes gained putting during that five-year stretch. The price is too low even considering recent form. He’s only been priced in the $7K range one other time this year (The Masters), and that was a much stronger field. We love him as a lower owned GPP option this week.

Sung Kang $7,400 - Kang is STILL under the radar to most casual PGA DFS players. He was T30 at TPC, and had finishes of T6, T11, and 2nd before that! He’s gaining strokes off the tee and on par 4 efficiency. He’s a lock to make the cut, and could easily finish top 10 at this event. We love him in GPP’s or cash lineups.

Best bargain basement option

Anirban Lahiri $6,400 - We wanted to go super basement option here and give you a guy you can pair with DJ comfortably. There’s a lot of good value in the upper $6K range this week, but Lahiri is our guy in the bottom of this range. Now, if you were paying attention on Friday at TPC, Lahiri was -6 on his round approaching the 18th tee, where he then proceeded to hit 3 tee shots in the water left to miss the cut by 4 shots. Is that scary? Yes. However, Lahiri is a contender and is a guy in this range we could see winning the AT&T. Obviously, he had something going right that day to be -6 on his round at TPC. We like this sneaky GPP play.

Player to avoid

Brooks Koepka $10,200 - This pains us because we have such a man crush on Brooks. We’ve also been on him heavily since the end of March where he was finding form again. But this week is different for a couple of reasons. First, his price is too high considering Jason Day is below him. Brooks should be a $9K player. Second, he finished T16 at TPC off his putter alone. He was 48th in the field in SG: OTT & 44th in SG: APP, and those are important stats this week. Could he keep a hot putter and straighten out the ball striking this week to ship the AT&T? Yes! But, we’ll take our chances fading the big name at an inflated price.
