Fantasy Golf on DraftKings - BMW Championship

Lock of the week:

Jordan Spieth – $11,800  Let’s not overcomplicate this. Jordan’s on fire right now and his eyes are on the Fed Ex Cup for the first time. He checks all the right stat categories necessary for success here at Conway Farms being SG: Off the Tee, SG: Approach, and DraftKings Scoring. The fairways are generous enough if his driver gets a little out of control. It’s a second shot course with bentgrass greens rolling fast. That’s perfect for the Golden Child. He may be high owned, but we just don’t care at this point. He’s one of two guys in the five digit range that we’ve locked in no matter the ownership.

Value Plays:

Henrik Stenson $8,900 – Henrik is one of our favorite plays this week, and we’re hoping he stays under the DFS community radar this week. He’s in fantastic form. He’s coming off a two week break. He ranks highly in the field in SG: OTT, SG: APP, and DK Scoring. He’s also 26th in the Fed Ex Cup standings meaning he’ll need to have a strong performance to lock in his trip to Eastlake for the Tour Championship. They don’t call him “Mr. September” for nothing! He’s a GPP and cash game lock for us.

Marc Leishman $7,700 – Leishman looks to be fairly popular this week, but we don’t care. He’s checking all the right stat boxes the last six tournaments, and his Vegas odds to win should have him priced up in the Sergio Garcia price range. His excellent form and value make him a lock in any format for us.

Phil Mickelson $7,300 – Phil finally found some form at the Dell Tech a couple of weeks ago with a 6th place finish. The wide fairways and Augusta-like greens at Conway Farms are a good thing for Phil. He currently sits at 36th in the Fed Ex Cup standings meaning he’ll have to finish T15 or better to avoid missing Eastlake. His Vegas odds to win should have him priced in the Chappell / Z. Johnson range. He’s a scorer when he’s playing well. In an event without a cut, this is the week to take a motivated Phil in droves on DraftKings.

Best bargain basement option:

Xander Schauffele $6,900 – X is the popular play in the $6K range this week for good reason. He gains strokes off the tee and he scores. His Vegas odds to win should have him priced in the Grillo / Reavie range. He’s proven already this year that he’s not afraid of the big stage given his performance in majors. He’ll be motivated to finish strong in order to make it to Eastlake in his rookie season.

Player to avoid:

Patrick Cantlay $8,600 – This is a really tough fade, but you have to gain leverage in creative ways when the field is 70 and no cut. Cantlay is a ball striking stud who can score. The DFS community will be all over him. He’ll see an ownership easily over 25% in most DraftKings contests. However, the only part of his game that is lacking at times is the putter. On speedy bentgrass greens, we’ll take our chances that Cantlay doesn’t convert as many birdie looks as he should despite the good iron play. You’ve got to narrow down the player pool this week with only 70 guys. If he finishes T40 or worse, we could really have a nice edge on the field.
