The Hero World Challenge 2017

Lock of the week:

Justin Rose – $8,600  It would be wise of you to lock in the only guy in the field with his primary residence being in the Bahamas. Insert Justin Rose. Rose has two wins, a T4, and a T10 in his last four starts since late October. You could argue there’s not a guy in better form worldwide right now than Justin Rose. We predict he will be very highly owned in DraftKings, but he’s the chalky play we’re willing to take.

Value Plays:

Brooks Koepka $9,200 – We consider two things extremely important this week if you’re playing DraftKings contests considering this is a no cut, 18 man event. Below par scoring and ownership values in the contests you’re playing are the only two factors we’re considering. Brooks is a top-four scorer even in this stacked field, and his ownership should be around average across the board.

Rickie Fowler $9,600 – Does everyone remember #SB2K17? How could you not? The PGA Tour social media accounts shoved it down our throat for a week. We’re going with the #SB2K17 narrative here with Fowler as he was one of the three boys in this field that took part in the Bahamas. Rickie’s a known scorer and the best bunker player on the PGA Tour. He’s another very popular play that we’re willing to bite on given his skill set and scoring potential.

Best bargain basement option:

Tommy Fleetwood – $6,800 – Fleetwood is easily our favorite play of the week in large field GPPs in DraftKings. He’s in tremendous form worldwide with six of his last eight rounds in the 60’s. The Brit can play in windy conditions if the forecast gets nasty, and his scoring ability is world class. Tommy will be popular in higher dollar contests that consist of more sharp players. But, he’s likely to go overlooked and under-owned in more “general public” contests on DraftKings, especially considering how close he is in price to the GOAT.

Tiger Prediction:

Tiger Woods $6,500 – Eldrick Tont Woods returns yet again this year after injury to play in his own event in the Bahamas. If you aren’t in a coma and opened your phone this week, you were inundated with videos of Tiger’s swing. So…we may as well give you our two cents on the matter.

Tiger’s swing looks different (in a good way). He clearly isn’t generating the swing speed he used to, but he’ll be long enough even with a little lack of speed. His swing looks built to last another decade without causing major back injury and tension. It’s also promising how much he’s prepared for this event. He’s been playing all the practice rounds. His attitude seems primed for success this week, and you can tell he wants to compete, not just complete the four-day tournament.

Last year at this event, Tiger finished 15th out of 17th, but he led the field in birdies or better. That’s what we’re talking about when we say a guy is valuable based on his scoring potential for Daily Fantasy Sports purposes. Tiger will score this week. We think he can top five this week. He will be all over the coverage, so you can enjoy watching him if you roster him. However, he will be the most popular play in any contest on DraftKings. That presents you with two decisions; either fade him completely to gain an edge on the field if he sucks, or play him so you don’t lose ground on the bulk of the field when he pops. The decision is yours. How much do you love Eldrick…?
