Fantasy Golf on DraftKings - OHL Classic

Lock of the week:

Charley Hoffman – $9,700  As a former winner of the OHL Classic, having gained 11 strokes on the field in the last five years at El Cameleon Golf Club, Charley is tough to leave off the lock list. His price tag under $10K makes him a tasty value we’re willing to roster despite likely high ownership. He’s a supreme ball striker both off the tee and from the fairway. Charley looks to have picked up right where he left off last season with another top 20 finish last week at the Shriners. We’ll have heaps of Hoffman this week in cash and GPP contests on DraftKings.

Value Plays:

Ryan Moore $8,600 – You could argue Moore isn’t much of a value based on lackluster recent form. However, this is a course built for Moore’s game tee to green. He was owned at 21% across most DraftKings GPP contests last week while disappointing with a T51. We suspect that drives down his ownership this week on a course better suited to his game. Moore is capable of winning this week given the course fit and weak field. We may top out around 20% ownership of Moore in the GPP contests we play.

Graeme McDowell $7,700 – We present to you a short-knocking, wind-conquering, Irishman in good form and strong course history! GMac is coming off the T10 last week at The Shriners and has gained 19 strokes on the field in only two tries at El Cameleon. On a course where accuracy matters and the wind could play a factor, Graeme seems like one of the best values on the board at only $7.7K. Vegas odds would suggest the same as he’s at 50/1 to win. We’ll load up on Graeme in GPPs and he’s a lock in cash games.

Nick Taylor $7,400 – It feels like Nick Taylor hasn’t missed a cut since Bush 41 was in office. As consistent as he’s been this swing season, his price dropped $200 this week despite a weaker field. Taylor has gained five strokes on the field in two tries at this track. He may not be much of an advantage in GPP contests since he doesn’t score at high rates and his ownership could be over 20%, but he’s a cash lock for sure. He’s top 20 in the field in Fairways Gained over the last 12 rounds. Hitting the tight fairways at El Cameleon and positioning yourself for the approach will be critical.

Best bargain basement option:

Stephan Jaeger

Stephan Jaeger – $6,700 – As one of the top Web.com players last season, Jaeger has shown some solid play in the last month by making all three cuts of his rookie PGA Tour season. Jaeger doesn’t make many mistakes. Only one player in the field at The Shriners last week hit more fairways than Stephan. His tee to green game has been stellar. If the German can drop a few more putts this week, you could see him win the OHL. The minimum price tag feels like a supreme value for the rookie.

Player to avoid:

Patrick Reed $10,500 – It’s borderline “un-American” to fade Patrick Reed, but the guy is not known for hitting fairways. When you compare him to others in this field over the last 12 and last 50 rounds, he’s in the bottom 20 in terms of Fairways Gained. The tight fairways and numerous hazards present a tough pill to swallow when rostering Reed as the third highest golfer this week on DraftKings. We will have zero shares of the golf world’s Chuck Norris.
