Fantasy Golf on DraftKings - PGA Championship

Lock of the week:

Rory Mcllroy – $11,800  Aside from being the best most talented golfer on the planet and finding some nice form last week, Rory eats Quail Hollow for breakfast! The No.4 player in the world made 6/7 cuts here with six T25’s and two wins! He averaged 328.7 at Firestone CC and Quail Hollow sets up perfectly for his driver. He’s the Vegas favorite and we’re willing to pay up for him on DraftKings in all formats. Rors will be popular in GPP contests. We estimate his ownership to fall between 26 – 30%.

Value Plays:

Adam Scott $8,600 – Scott is another guy who performed well last week with three rounds in the 60’s, and has always been a premier ball striker. He ranks high in this field in SG: Off the TeeSG: Approach and his Vegas odds to win are better or the same as StensonGarciaThomas, and Kuchar. However, you get a nice saving with his price falling near the average mark on DraftKings. We’ll be playing Scott in GPP and Cash contests confidently.

Daniel Berger $7,700 – Berger is a bomber and is playing some great golf right now. He has recorded three Top 5’s in his past six PGA Tour events and has missed only four cuts in 17 starts this season. The FSU album is one of the best iron players in the game over the last 12-24 rounds he’s played. Berger has played Quail Hollow twice including no missed cuts and a Top 25. This is a bomber’s course and Berger has the length to compete and win. He’s another GPP and Cash staple for us this week.

Tony Finau $7,000 – Like Berger, Finau has played Quail Hollow twice without missing a cut and landing one T25. He’s another big hitter that has played quite well in major championships including a Top-10 in the 2015 PGA Championship. The form is there, and the price is a steal at $7K. He gains strokes off the tee week in and week out on the PGATour. Can you play him in GPP and Cash tournaments…? You better believe it!

Best bargain basement option:

Charles Howell $6,400 – This is a criminal price tag for CH3. He’s been playing Quail Hollow since David was in diapers with impeccable course history including two T25s in the last five years. Charles is a bomber that gains strokes off the tee and has one of the best GIR % on tour. His Vegas odds to win are equal or better than a ton of guys, but for example: BryanGrillo, OlesenSwaffordDeChambeauNa, and McGirt just to name a few. Howell may be the most popular player in the field in GPPs as many will be stacking a stud at the top with him. So, you could argue that you get an advantage by not playing him if he misses the cut. However, he’s a total cash game lock at that price.

Player to avoid:

Branden Grace $8,200 – Grace is a low ball hitter that won’t have the carry distance needed to contend at Quail Hollow. Plus, conditions look to be softer with the rain so the course could get really long for the South African. Grace is your boy in dry, windy conditions, but not this week. He’s a great player, but not worth paying the price. We’d rather save money and pivot to a guy like Thomas Pieters who actually has better Vegas odds to win for $700 less.
