Fantasy Golf on DraftKings - Safeway Open

Lock of the week:

Tony Finau – $11,500  Tony finished off his PGA Tour season with back to back T7’s and produced 37 birdies in the two events! His form is undeniable. He’s a bomber that can take advantage of the par 5’s on Silverado, and he’s overdue for a win on the tour. Finau has never been the highest priced guy in the field, but it’s a weak field and we don’t mind paying up for him. You can find some hidden gems in the $6K range to pair up with him. He’s a Utah guy, and being back over on the west coast is probably something he’s glad to see having been east for months.

Value Plays:

Kevin Na $9,400 – Na finally started to flash some form later in the year with two T10s in his last four events. He’s a Las Vegas guy, so not having to travel too much to make his way to Napa should be beneficial. He’ll likely be playing for his hometown given recent events. Na has a tremendous record at Silverado over the last three years which helps justify the $9K price tag. His iron game is very solid when he’s on form, which is exactly what it’s going to take to put up another T10.

Jamie Lovemark $8,700 – This is one of our favorite plays of the week for Silverado. He’s a California guy that can crush it off the tee and set himself up for a few eagle looks this week. The scoring upside that Jaime brings is similar to that of Finau. He’s PGA Tour veteran that’s overdue for a victory. The rough looks to only be around 3” thick off the fairway, so it won’t penalize Jamie too much for any wayward tee shots. Bombs away and go the distance on this guy in GPP contests!

Scott Brown $7,800 – “Brownie” is a buddy of ours and we know he loves tracks like Silverado where anyone can win. Winning in Napa requires the ability to have to think yourself around this course and shape the ball. Scott loves courses like this because he’s good at that stuff! Brown can get real hot when he starts feeling it and the birdies will start flying. What can Brown do for you? Brown can help make your feel like a safe bet to make the cut with the upside of a T5.

Best bargain basement option:

Grayson Murray $7,100 – Murray is another bomber fitting the Finau and Lovemark profile. He’s got a fantastic birdie rate and all the confidence he needs coming off his first PGA Tour season with a victory. He’s more of a GPP play for us given his volatility. Given Murray’s his scoring potential on DraftKings, we’ve got to have some exposure to him in large contests.

Player to avoid:

Ollie Schniederjans $8,300 – Ollie will be a popular play in the DFS world. However, OS hasn’t shown very well at Silverado in the past, losing more than five strokes total to the field. He’s only had one T10 in ten events since June and the value just isn’t there at $8,300. Ollie has not been a reliable cut maker and with the inflated ownership, he’s not worth the GPP play. We’ll be fading OS completely.
