Fantasy Golf on DraftKings - Valspar Championship

Lock of the week:

Paul Casey $9800 –  The ball striking Brit had a decent week last week in Mexico City and his price continues to stay low considering his nearly automatic top 15 value. Casey is top 20 in this field over the last 12 rounds in SG: Approach, DraftKings Points, and Good Drive %. That’s a recipe for another tremendous week at Copperhead. He’s gained 16 strokes total in his last six events and if the wind kicks up at Copperhead, Casey can compete with the best of them. Despite ownership staying around the 25% mark again this week, he’s “chalk” we’re willing to eat in GPPs and cash games.

Value Plays:

Adam Hadwin $8,800 – As the defending champion this week, Hadwin gets a bump in price, but we hope that throws people off in GPPs. The Canadian is playing extremely well right now having gained 22 strokes total in his last six events. Hadwin is top 20 in this field in all five of our key stat categories this week being; SG: Around the Green, SG: Approach, DraftKings Points, Good Drive % and Bogey Avoidance. As long as his projected ownership doesn’t creep towards 20% or more by Wednesday, we’ll have plenty of Hadwin. If you’re looking for a cash game centerpiece, look no further.

Luke List $7,800 – Coming off a disappointing playoff loss two weeks ago to JT at PGA National, List is playing the best golf of his career. PGA National is a similar Florida track as what the guys will face this week in Copperhead. List has gained a whopping 33 strokes total in his last six events. He’s also top 20 in this field in four of our five key stat categories. Luke was only 3% owned at the Honda, and with the $7K range on DraftKings full of value, we see his ownership around the 10% number. He’s locked and loaded in our GPP and cash game lineups.

Chris Kirk $7,100 – With so many value options in the $7K range, Kirk is just one of many we’ll have exposure to in GPPs. The Georgia Bulldog has gained 17 strokes total in his last six events, and his average ownership during that run has been around 7%. He’s top 20 in DraftKings Points and Bogey Avoidance. We may not find ourselves dipping this low in cash lineup construction, but in GPPs Kirk presents a nice pivot option with winning upside.

Player to Avoid:

Rory Mcllroy $11,300 – Rory is as low as he’s been in nearly a decade on the Official World Golf Ranking. He has not gained a stroke anywhere from tee to green in his last five tournaments. He’s too expensive considering the current form, risk and upside on another course that will take the driver out of his hands. Will he be sub 10% in terms of ownership? Yes. But, to really return the value you need out of that price tag, Rory will have to come out of nowhere and find the form. It’s a name that’s tough to avoid, but you have to take a stand in GPPs each week to gain an edge on the field.
