Fantasy Golf on DraftKings - Quicken Loans National
Lock of the week:Rickie Fowler $12,000 - This is an easy one. Rickie’s coming off a great US Open and is in a class by himself when it comes to the strength of this field for Quicken Loans. He’s one of the best on the PGA Tour when you combine Driving Distance and Driving Accuracy which will set up perfectly for TPC Potomac. Accuracy will be a must here and distance certainly will allow him to take advantage of some shorter par 4’s. He’s also an elite DraftKings scorer. Even as the highest priced option, we like Rickie in all formats of DFS. There are a few guys at the bottom price ranges that will easily allow you to fit Rickie in and feel confident he’ll get you points.
Value Plays:
Bud Cauley $7,700 - Coming off a T35 last week at the Travelers Championship, Cauley is checking a lot of boxes for us in regards to key stats for this course. He’s highly ranked in the field in SG: Off the Tee, SG: Approach, and Birdie or Better %. He has recorded four Top-10s since the month of April and has made 11/16 cuts this year. Whereas a lot of players have seen a price increase due to this weak field, Cauley’s price has remained somewhat flat making him a great value in our mind. We’ll be playing him in cash or GPP contests.
Kevin Streelman $7,400 - Streelman’s form the last 3 events is impossible to ignore. He’s had a T13, T18, and a T8 just last week at the Travelers Championship. This course sets up perfect for his accuracy, and he’s a proven PGA Tour winner that could bring it home in this weak field. He is 10/14 in cuts made this year and the value at $7,400 is fantastic as his Vegas odds should have him priced much higher on DraftKings. We’ll be playing plenty of him in cash and GPP contests.
Daniel Summerhays $7,200 - Summerhays has been a little inconsistent at times this year, but has flashed some potential recently. He just needs to string together four good rounds and avoid the high numbers. Summerhays has always been regarded as one of the best putters on the PGA Tour and we think putting will be imperative this week on speedy bentgrass surfaces with a ton of undulation. Daniel also thrives playing golf in the northeast areas of the US. We see this as a potential bounce back event for him with upside around a T10 or better like we saw at the Memorial not to long ago. He’s a GPP play only for us.
Best bargain basement option:
Grayson Murray $6,800 - If there’s a more controversial golf Twitter follow than Grayson Murray, we’ve never heard of them. Grayson may be hated by most due to his views and hot Twitter takes, but the guy’s form of late is as hot as his takes! Murray started off the year horribly but has turned it around by making his last eight cuts with three T30 finishes. He ranks high in the field in SG: Off the Tee and Birdie or Better %. We like the play here for GPP’s only on DraftKings as you probably should avoid the $6K range all together for your cash lineups this week.
Player to avoid:
J.B. Holmes $9,400 - JB is coming off a nice finish at Erin Hills a few weeks ago, but we don’t like how inconsistent he’s been this year, especially with the $9,400 price tag. This is more of a case of their being better options around him that are more of a course fit. JB’s a bomber that can get erratic off the tee and this is not the place for that type of tee game. We’d much prefer to use guys like Marc Leishman, Bill Haas, or David Lingmerth in this price range.
