Fantasy Golf on DraftKings - Sentry Tournament of Champions

Lock of the week:

Jordan Spieth – $10,900  The Golden Boy has gained 31 strokes on the field at Kapalua in three attempts finishing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The next closest in terms of total strokes gained is Justin Thomas at 24. Spieth is the guy to take in the top four names on DraftKings. The large greens at Kapalua mean 3 putt avoidance and wedge proximity play will be integral to success. Jordan is as good as it gets on the PGA Tour in those categories. For DFS lineups we play where we’re rostering one of the top four, Jordan will be our highest owned.

Value Plays:

Brooks Koepka $9,400 – Get ready for an early season love fest on Brooks from the Tour Junkies in 3…2…1. Brooks is a dreamboat of a player at Kapalua that features wide fairways, Bermuda grass surfaces, and caters to great putters and players who stay aggressive. Out of the last five seasons on the PGA Tour, Brooks has finished T20 or better in BoB% four times, Eagles per round four times, and SG: Putting three times. In a no-cut event where scores go super low, Brooks is a must buy at sub $10K! If his ownership goes through the roof in DFS circles, we’ll be through the atmosphere!

Kevin Kisner $8,400 – We’ve spoken to a couple of caddies on the PGA Tour that say the most important factors at Kapalua are putting, wedge play, and staying aggressive. Enter Kevin Kisner. He’s only outranked by two other players in the field over the last five years in SG: Putting and 3 Putt Avoidance (Spieth & Brooks). He’s a fantastic wedge player who thrives on birdies in bunches when he gets hot. He lost his longtime caddie during round one of the Hero, but we have word that he’s back on the bag this week and feeling great. #WhoLitTheKiz.

Russell Henley $7,800 – We’re REALLLLYYY hoping Henley stays under the radar this week and goes lower owned in DFS contests. The former Georgia Bulldog has finished T20 or better two out of the last five seasons on the PGA Tour and his first win came in Hawaii in 2013. He’s plenty long off the tee and this marks his third trip to Kapalua. Henley feels like a play that could go overlooked by most but has the upside to win. Having the winner in your lineups will be a must to win big on DraftKings. A low owned winner would be even better…

Best bargain basement option:

Grayson Murray  $6,400 – If we stack ranked based on the fictional stat of “Strokes Gained: Aggression”, Grayson would be on top of the ranking in more facets than golf. Being aggressive is critical to playing well at Kapalua. Grayson finished the year in 2017 as one of the best DraftKings scorers on the PGA Tour due not only to style, but length off the tee and putting. We think Murray is in for a strong year in 2018, and it could start here. For $6,400, we’ll gladly take our chance on the volatile 2nd year bomber.

Player to Avoid:

Rickie Fowler $10,500 – Fowler is the one guy out of the top four on DraftKings we just can’t roster. You can make great cases for the other three up top (all previous winners here), but Fowler’s inability to close in strong fields like this is concerning. We mentioned that you have to roster the winner this week. If you don’t think a guy over $10K can win, then there is no reason to roster him. We don’t believe Fowler will win. We could see him finishing T5 or T10, but that’s not a great enough return in a short field. We’ll be saving our Rickie shares for another week.
