Fantasy Golf on DraftKings - The 117th U.S Open

Lock of the week:

Justin Rose $9,800 - Rose is coming off a T12 at the BMW Championship, which is essentially a European Tour major. His game is a perfect combo of length and accuracy off the tee and is top 15 for this field in SG: Around the Green. He’s also got an incredible history at The Masters which we like that correlation because the greens at Erin Hills are bentgrass and pure as ever. This means that good putters that can see the lines and execute will make a lot of putts. Rosie’s price tag is too cheap, and he’s consistently overlooked in majors on DraftKings despite a great performance.

Value Plays:

Kevin Kisner $7,500 - “Kiz” joined us on the Tour Junkies Podcast this week after seeing Erin Hills and believes that it’s going to come down to keeping it in the fairway off the tee, chipping off these tight lies around the greens, and solid putting. Basically...that’s Kevin Kisner! He’s in tremendous form coming off his win at the Dean & Deluca Invitational and is confident as ever. His price is absurdly low. He’s a lock in cash and GPP contests on DraftKings.

Louis Oosthuizen $7,400 - Louis hasn’t missed a cut all season (9/9) and has finished T10 or better in a third of his starts. The South African has already proved that he can win a major and plays great in windy conditions. This will come to his advantage as winds are expected to pick up as the week goes on at Erin Hills. He is one of the few players in the field that is top 15 in both SG: Off the Tee & SG: Putting. Love Louis in cash or GPP contests.

Charl Schwartzel $7,300 - Charl was battling a bit of a wrist injury coming off The Memorial, but it seems to be fine as he posted a T2 last week at the FedEx St. Jude Classic. He mentioned on Twitter that he “found some form” which he hopes to continue into this week.  He’s long off the tee and is top in the field in SG: Putting. Along with Louis, he’s another South African that can play in windy conditions. He’s another lock in cash or GPP contests on DraftKings.

Best bargain basement option:

Jimmy Walker $6,500 - We’re going out on a limb a little bit with Jimmy here, but we like the value and likely the low ownership in DraftKings GPPs. Jimmy has already shown he can perform in majors with three tops 10's and a victory at the PGA Championship just last year. He’s been battling Lyme Disease this season but is still showing consistency by only missing two cuts in 12 starts. Jimmy posted videos recently of his practice sessions and nobody is talking about him this week. He may be a nice low owned stud in GPPs, and could be a solid cut maker for only $6,500.

Player to avoid:

Martin Kaymer $7,000 - Kaymer is a big name, 2014 US Open winner, and a crazy price at first glance on DraftKings. However, we will be avoiding him for two reasons. First, Kaymer is a terrible chipper around the greens and going back to our Kisner interview this week, you’re going to have to chip the ball well off these closely shaved areas around the green. Second, he’s going to be extremely popular when people see the name, pedigree, and price tag. We’ll take our chances not playing him in hopes that he “trunk slams” on Friday leaving a good part of the DraftKings field in the dust.
