Fantasy Golf on DraftKings - John Deere Classic
Lock of the week:Daniel Summerhays $8,600 - We’re going to lock in Summerhays in GPP and cash games on DraftKings based on price, form, and course fit. His form is trending in the right direction the last three tournaments he’s competed in with a T17 at his last event. We’re weighting SG: Putting pretty heavily this week, and Summerhays is one of the best putters on the PGATour. He’s also one of the more accurate drivers off the tee in the field which should suit him well at TPC Deere Run. The value is there. His odds aren’t much worse than a number of guys priced higher than him in this weak field. He’s also made 3/5 cuts here in the last five years with two T10s.
Value Plays:
Chad Campbell $7,600 - Chad hasn’t missed a cut at TPC Deere Run in his last four attempts. He’s also shown fantastic form in his most recent five events with T10s at the FedEx St.Jude Classic and The Greenbrier. Campbell is gaining strokes on the field putting on bentgrass greens and off the tee with accuracy. Chad feels as safe to make the cut this week as Summerhays. We love him in GPP or cash games as well.
Chez Reavie $8,400 - This course seems to fit Chez perfectly, as it requires accuracy off the tee and a solid week putting. Chez ranks highly in both in addition to Birdie or Better % in the last 12 and 24 rounds he’s played against the field. His recent finishes include a T4 at the FedEx St.Jude Classic and a T16 at the U.S Open at Erin Hills. Chez can get hot and go low which is going to be necessary at an event like this where at least -20 is going to win.
Michael Kim $6,900 - Michael Kim is a cheap Chez Reavie this week. He’s another solid cut maker that doesn’t find himself in a whole lot of trouble, making 13/18 cuts made this season,. The Cal alum can also post super low rounds like he did during the final round last week at The Greenbrier. Kim’s missed one cut since late April and he's as low as we would go in a cash lineup this week.
Best bargain basement option:
Ryan Brehm $6,500 - Brehm is a value play at the minimum price who made 17 birdies last week at The Greenbrier on his way to a T37 finish. He’s only missed three cuts all year out of 14 tries, and he’s making more birdies than the field in his last 12 and 24 rounds. We aren’t interested in going this low in cash lineups this week, but we will have some exposure to Brehm in GPP contests for sure at this minimum price tag.
Player to avoid:
Jamie Lovemark $9,300 - Lovemark was our boy last week, and he paid off with a T3 at The Greenbrier. However, with his $1,000 price increase, it’s the highest Lovemark has ever been on DraftKings likely during a week where he’ll be popular after everyone watched him on Sunday at The Greenbrier. This may not be the best course fit for Jamie as he can’t overpower it, requires some accuracy off the tee, and putting well is a must. The weakest part of Lovemark’s game over this season has been the flat stick, and we’re not willing to pay up for that uncertainty this week.
