PGA Tour Fantasy Golf Picks for DraftKings - WGC Mexico Championship
Lock of the week Jordan Spieth $11,500 - Jordan is in as good of form as anyone. He hits the mark in key stat categories for this week being SG: Approach, Scrambling, & Scoring. We also have good inside info that says these greens resemble Augusta National in their undulation and subtle breaks. The 5 - 7’ putting range will be key this week. There’s none better in the game in that regard than Spieth. Roll with him in GPP & cash lineups.Value Plays
Jon Rahm $9,000 - Rahmbo scores birdies in bunches, which is key for an event where everyone on DraftKings uses all six players through the duration of the tournament. He’s also a fantastic ball-striker that will help him in high altitude conditions. His value at $9K is incredible. He’s a world class player that could win this event. Even if Rahm finishes T15 or so, he’ll likely score enough DraftKings points to win you some contests.
Gary Woodland $8,400 - This play literally checks every possible stat box we come up with. Woodland is an exceptional sand player. This course has 43 green side bunkers protecting its small greens, so payers will have to get up and down from the bunkers. Gary is in great form as of late, coming off his 2nd place finish at the Honda Classic last week. He can take advantage of his length when needed, but he’s also one of the best short course bombers on Tour. He knows how to scale back and hit less than driver.
Alex Noren $7,200 - Noren is the 11th ranked golfer in the world, and most people on DraftKings won’t have a clue who he is. He’s an immense value this week. Noren is a solid ball striker with a great track record in windy, high elevation conditions. The Swedish native comes in ranked as the 4th ranked scrambler on the European Tour and he’s 20th in Putts Per GIR. Short. Game. Stud.Best bargain basement option
Bill Haas $7,000 - In his three starts this year, he’s finished no worse than 17th with nine of 12 rounds in the 60’s. Bill is in tremendous form! He’s the No.1 scrambler on the PGA Tour this season. Haas brings an appropriate blend of length and accuracy to fit this track, averaging 86 DraftKings points per tour event this season. Bill is a steal at $7,000 and will be in loads of our GPP and Cash game lineups.
Player to avoid
Tyrell Hatton $8,300 - We always like to give a player fade that is a little risk/reward. You aren’t going to get much of an advantage fading a guy who everyone else is fading. Enter, Tyrell Hatton He’ll will be a very popular play this week due to recent form and checking stat boxes. However, at $8,300, you can virtually get the same caliber player in Alex Noren $1100 cheaper. We say fade Hatton and take Noren along with the salary cap savings instead. Hatton also showed some poor putting and lack of patience last week at The Honda Classic. These unknown greens in Mexico will result in tough 5 - 7 footers and patience will help.
