Fantasy Golf on DraftKings - Wyndham Championship
Lock of the week:
Kevin Kisner - $11,300 - Kiz is the type of guy that will take a crappy Sunday like the one he had at the PGA Championship and turn it into pure fire the next week. He’s going to be eager to get out there and prove himself after his tough final round of 74. The former University of Georgia Bulldog ranks high in the field in three key stats for us this week; Good Drives: Gained, Par 4 Scoring, & DraftKings scoring. He’s made three of five cuts here at the Wyndham Championship in the last five years with two T10s. We’ll play him confidently in GPP or cash games.
Value Plays:
Scott Brown $8,200 – “Brownie” really impressed last week at The PGA with a T13 considering the 7,600-yard Quail Hollow Club was not built for his style of play. Sedgefield Country Club, the site of the Wyndham, is built for Scott’s game as he’s a great ball striker, accurate off the tee, and scores in bunches when he’s in the zone. The T13 last week indicates he’s in the zone. It is no question that he can contend on tour after recording two runner ups finishes in the 2017 season. Brown’s another GPP or cash lock for us.
Chad Campbell $7,900 – Chad is one of our favorite players of the week at this price of $7,900 on DraftKings. He’s missed one cut since The Players Championship in May with four T20s in his last six starts. The Texan ranks well in Good Drives Gained, Par 4 scoring and is one of the best in Greens in Regulation %. In a field as weak as this, Chad is a player that could take home the hardware come Sunday evening. He’s a lock in GPP or cash contests.
Nick Watney $7,200 – Nick is one of our favorite salary savers on the board this week. He is a tremendous ball striker that has been successful on courses like Sedgefield in the past. The five-time PGA Tour winner could use the FedEx Cuppoints as he sits just inside the 125 player cutline for the first leg of the playoffs. His form has been a little hit or miss lately, but he was a fairly consistent cut maker for most of the year making 12/18 cuts this season. Watney feels like more of a GPP play, but if you’re playing in large cash game contests, we wouldn’t mind the move.
Best bargain basement option:
Trey Mullinax $6,900 – Mullinax doesn’t necessarily fit the profile for Sedgefield from a stats perspective since he’s a bomb and gouge type guy. However, Trey is a sneaky good putter and proved that all year last year on the Web.com tour. He’s also outside of the Top 125 in the FedEx Cup standings as is in need of a solid finish this week. The former University of Alabama golfer can score in bunches and has finally had a couple weeks rest after playing nearly 10 events in a row trying to earn points. Mullinax is a GPP play for sure.Player to avoid:
Henrik Stenson $11,500 – Stenson is clearly the class of the field, but that doesn’t make him an automatic play. On the heels of the season’s final major and before the FedEx Cup Playoffs, it’s kind of a head-scratcher as to why he plays this event. He’s withdrawn from this event before with hardly more than a runny nose, and his motivation is in question. It’s too risky of a play for us considering the fact that if he gets off to a bad start, he could just make his way home without thinking twice. He does check all the boxes from a stat category, and he should see low ownership. However, the risk of WD, the high price tag, and the lack of supreme form mean we’ll gladly avoid.
