PGA Tour Fantasy Golf Picks for DraftKings - Valspar Championship
Lock of the week: Henrik Stenson $11,700 - SEND! Yea Yea Yea, Henrik couldn’t handle his Chalupa’s last week in Chapultepec, but no reason to get pissy and avoid this week. He didn’t WD for any other reason as far as we know. He set a lot of Fantasy Golf lineups on fire early on Thursday last week which means his ownership could be a little more suppressed this week. Plus, this is a difficult golf course with a weak field. On tough courses, the world class players typically thrive. There aren’t many world class players to choose from in this field outside of a few. He’s played Copperhead twice w/ a T11 & a T4. It’s a ball striker, less than driver, 2nd shot golf course. That’s Stenson all day. He checks every stat category and likes the golf course.Value Plays
Jason Dufner $7,900 - Duff Daddy has made eight of nine cuts with one Top 10 at the Valspar Championship. Last week at the WGC event, he was 12th in SG: Approach &13th in Good Drive %. Those are key stats to performing well at Copperhead. Add to all of that, the fact that he’s in great from coming in with 3 consecutive Top 25s, Dufner is a great value in cash or GPP formats.
Gary Woodland $8,900 - Gary disappointed a few people last week for the WGC with a T38. However, he was still 6th in SG: Approach last week and easily one of the best ball strikers on Tour. He had two Top 5s prior to last week and he’s made the cut four out of six tries at the Valspar with two Top 10s. He’s one of the class players in this fairly weak field. Jump back in with Gary and reap the scoring benefits.
Luke Donald $7,800 - Luke has never missed a cut here in eight tries with four Top 10s! Safe to say he feels comfortable here. He’s also in great form with a T27, T17, and T23 his last three events. He’s been one of the best putters and scramblers on Tour for years. We’re going to put our trust in his tee to green game this week given his recent performance.
Best bargain basement option
Lucas Glover $6.900 - Lucas is known on Tour as a pure “ball striker.” He hasn’t missed a cut since the last time we saw Tiger with a T21 at the Honda two weeks ago. He’s made eight of 13 cuts here with one Top 10, but his game looks stronger than ever right now. He’s also a guy known to rattle off birdies when he gets it going. We love the cut maker value here with Lucas in cash or GPP formats.Player to avoid
Bubba Watson $8,300 - We always try to take a leap of faith with this play. There’s no real edge to avoiding a player that everyone else avoids as well. Our guy to avoid this week is Bubba Watson. Bubba finished T38 in a 77 man field last week where the “bombers” seemed to light it up. He had missed 2 cuts prior. His form is just off. Even in a field as weak as this, Bubba should be avoided until he shows some form. This is a tight golf course that the “bomb & gouge” style of play does not benefit many players.
