Though these eight women may be movie stars, business owners and politicians, you can catch them on the course when they’re not at their day jobs.
According to the World Golf Foundation, there are over 30 million female golfers worldwide. Among them are a number of A-list celebrities. Here are eight famous women who love the game … some of the names on this list may surprise you.
Catherine Zeta-Jones
A longtime avid golfer, Zeta-Jones and her husband Michael Douglas have been spotted together at golf courses all over the world. In an appearance earlier this year on the Graham Norton Show, Zeta-Jones said that she’s a better golfer than Douglas. She also admitted that the pair have a standing on-course agreement: Douglas has to drop his pants every time he duck hooks a shot.Jessica Alba
When she’s not busy running her $1.7 billion empire, the Honest Company, Alba has been known to hit the links. She’s played in various tournaments around the world, including the 2014 Mission Hills World Celebrity Pro-Am in China where she was paired with John Daly. Ensuing headlines included “Beauty and the Beast” and “John Daly plays golf with Jessica Alba, proves to everyone that chicks still dig the long ball.”Condoleezza Rice
Condoleeza Rice with teammates Mary Meeker, Gerry Plunkett, Marissa Mar, and Lila Barton at the Workday Silicon Valley Challenge at Stanford Golf Course. And a caddie.
Rice’s love of sports is well documented: She grew up as a competitive figure skater and she’s currently a member of the College Football Playoff Selection Committee. Rice took up golf awhile she was secretary of state, and she’s since made history. Along with Darla Moore, she was one of the first two women to join Augusta National Golf Club.
Tea Leoni
Unlike Rice, Leoni was never secretary of state … she just plays one on television. One thing they do have in common, however, is that they both love golf. Leoni has been playing for years, and in 2005 she was even listed in Golf Digest as the top female celebrity golfer. She’s had a handicap as low as 12, and now she plays whenever she can fit it into her schedule.Cameron Diaz Diaz started golfing on the set of 1998's “There’s Something About Mary,” though her most famous golf moment may have come in 2014 when she joined Jimmy Fallon for a round of “Roller Golf.” It turns out that the actress is pretty serious about the sport. She even admitted that, at one point, she hung up her clubs for several years because the game had become too addictive.
Nicole Kidman In 2015, Vogue published a rare interview with the actress that was conducted -- to the surprise of many -- on the golf course. Kidman took up the sport several years ago as a way to relax, and it’s become a regular hobby of hers. She frequents courses near her home in Nashville, and she even participated in a pro-am tournament a couple years ago. Fellow Aussie Greg Norman rated her swing a six-out-of-ten.
Kelly Rohrbach
When you grow up golfing Winged Foot – a course so renowned that the president can’t even get a tee time there – you’re bound to become a pretty good player. That was certainly the case for Rohrbach, a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and star of the upcoming Baywatch reboot. Rohrbach has beauty and brains -- she played college golf at Georgetown before breaking into the modelling business.
Kristen Stewart This one may come as a bit of a surprise, but it’s true that Stewart is a golf lover. She grew up playing with her dad, and still hits the links when she can. On the set of her 2014 film “Camp X-Ray,” she and the rest of the cast set up a driving range to help blow off steam. Though Stewart enjoys the game, she said she doesn’t wear golf gear. “I’m way too cool for that,” she told reporters at a press conference.
