Golf In Ontario: Whistle Bear Golf Club

Golf course architect and Huntsville native John Robinson completed this links style course in 2001.  Each hole is named after the 18 previous owners of the Whistle Bear landscape, dating back to 1829.  Whistle Bear Golf Club has gone on to host multiple tour events on both the men's and women's side, including the Manulife LPGA Classic and Web.com Tour events in 2004 and 2005.  With constant improvements being made year to year, Whistle Bear Golf Club hopes to host the Canadian Open in the near future.

"True Links" 

Whistle Bear Golf Club meets every criteria of a links style course.  John Robinson strategically placed over a 100 bunkers throughout the course, many with lips so high you can lose sight of your playing partners.  To make things even tougher, 10 of the holes have water that will eat your ball if you aren't careful.  Throughout the whole course, fescue lingers alongside every fairway testing players of every level.  The fescue is so nasty in area's that it makes golfer's question whether or not they want to even look for their ball.

If the fescue, deep bunkers, high winds, and extensive amount of water wasn't challenging enough for you, this hidden gem can be tipped out to over 7,500 yards from the black tees.  Yes, you read that correctly, over 7,500 yards! Whistle Bear Golf Club does offer five sets of tees, allowing golfers of all levels to take on this beast of a course.

Whether you just picked up the game, are a weekend golfer, or striving to be a professional, Whistle Bear Golf Club is a must play.  The challenging “true links” layout, majestic views, and incredible facilities will leave you planning a trip back the moment you leave!
