Fantasy Golf on DraftKings - The Memorial Tournament

Lock of the week:

Jon Rahm $11,100 - Rahmthreat is clearly the “next big thing” on the PGA Tour right now without a missed cut this season. Rahm currently holds a 69.59 scoring average, seven T-10’s in 14 events, and a victory! We received a message from Jon’s caddie last week before Colonial that said, “hey, I know every course seems to fit my guy, but next week at Jack’s place is perfect!” Rahm, who stands at No.4 in FedEx Cup standings, has proved in many areas that he is a consistent scorer and is able to gain strokes everywhere. Pay up in cash and GPP’s. He’ll be high owned, so go big!

Value Plays:

Kevin Kisner $7,600 - It’s no secret Kiz is in great form after winning the Dean & Deluca last week. He’s an excellent putter on bentgrass greens, which we will see again this week at Memorial. Scrambling and putting is going to be big this week, and Kiz is still one of the best on Tour in these categories. He’s cheaper on DraftKings than any other major DFS site, and you have to take advantage of that value at $7,600. When you look at the type of players that have won here recently, Kiz is no different as he's not likely to go back to back, but a top-10 returns value easily. For reference, only Justin Thomas has won playing back-to-back events this season. Consider him a solid value although not a great bet to win.

Patrick Cantlay $7,800 - Cantlay has been a little overpriced this season at times, but we love the value at this week’s event in addition to his excellent form. He hasn’t missed a cut and has thrown in two T10’s. Cantlay has the all-around game that formers winners here have displayed. He’s tops in the field in SG: Off the Tee and 3-Putt Avoidance. With two top 3's and four top-25 performances, consider Cantlay a solid value option this week.

Byeong-Hun An $6,900 - This was a tough decision as DraftKings has about a dozen guys grossly mispriced in the $6K range, but we land here on An due to ownership. He will likely be a little lower owned than some of these other values, especially in smaller dollar (more public money) contests. An has made 12/12 cuts this season and has a T24, T5, & T8 in the month of May. He’s heating up folks. An is an excellent ball striker both off the tee and from the fairway. The key is his putting. If he can putt, he can win this event easily. Take the lower ownership and pray for a hot putter.

Best bargain basement option:

Cameron Smith $6,500 - The Aussie has missed his first two cuts after winning his first event on the PGA Tour at the Zurich, but we feel like taking the chance on him here with the reduced price and ownership due to form. He’s one of the top scramblers on Tour and he’s a tremendous scorer in the DraftKings format. The fairways at Memorial are about 30 yards wide giving Cam plenty of room off the tee. Jump back in as most will be scared of the recent missed cuts. Smith has made 9 cuts in the 14 events he has played this season, so consider him a decent boom or bust play this week.

Player to avoid:

Justin Thomas $7,600 -  While the price tag and name value here is going to attract a lot of people to pick JT, we’re going to avoid the trap. Thomas was on fire early this year, but his only T-10, since January, was in Mexico in a short field. He’s also not known for his putting, and with greens running close to 14 on the stimp, we don’t like the 3-putt odds for Thomas. He’ll likely be over 25% owned in DraftKings GPP’s, and we’d rather gain an edge fading him. You’ve got to take a stand on big name fades, and JT’s our consensus fade for the Memorial.
