The RSM Classic 2017

Lock of the week:

Webb Simpson – $9,800  Webb is coming off of back to back top 20s and a fantastic end to the 2016 – 2017 season. The putting woes seem to have left him as he was one of the better putters on tour towards the end. He’s a perfect course fit for Sea Island given its demand for accuracy off the tee and precision iron play. We feel like the value shows strong here with his price as his odds to win are right up there Hadley and Harman. We’ll be rolling with Webb in GPP and cash game contests.

Value Plays:

Zach Johnson $9,100 – As the Chief Executive Shortknocker on the PGA Tour, Zach Johnson’s game should be the perfect fit for Sea Island. He’s been the poster boy for accuracy off the tee, wedge game wizardry, and dominating short courses. His history here is surprisingly average, but hopefully that drives down his ownership. In addition, you gain the upside of ZJ’s winning upside as his pedigree is top notch compared to this field. He’s another GPP and cash lock for us.

Patton Kizzire $8,900 – Every player on the PGA Tour would tell you that getting that first victory out of the way relieves an immense amount of pressure and leads to playing more freely. Patton just slammed the door Sunday at the OHL Classic after battling with Fowler for 36 holes to lock up that maiden victory. Not only will he be riding high off the win and recent form this week, but he’s also sleeping in his own bed as Sea Island is home for Kizzire. Is it likely that the same guy wins on the PGA Tour two weeks in a row? No. However, we love the odds versus value for Patton when it comes to a top ten finish.

Kevin Streelman $7,500 – We may as well leave this section filled out for every event Streelman plays in as long as his form continues and DraftKings continues mispricing him. This fall swing, Streels has a T10, T13, and a T20 last week with three rounds in the 60s and you could argue this track fits him better than any of the previous. He will be highly owned in GPP fields as he’s been over 20% in recent weeks. However, we love him from a cash game perspective or GPP if you’re willing to leverage low owned guys elsewhere.

Best bargain basement option:

JT Poston – $7,200 – #SeaIslandMafia member, JT Poston, is another young player in fantastic form who calls this place home. He’s coming off a T14 and T4 finish the last two weeks. He’s mentioned on our podcast before how much he loves courses that require accuracy and short game. JT’s a Junior ShortKnocker with a deadly short game. When you look at the type of players who’ve done well here, that skillset should translate nicely.

Player to avoid:

Ollie Schniederjans $9,900 – Ollie’s a good player who’s comfortable playing in Georgia given his college career and “Georgia Swoop” hairstyle. However, this is a value play as he’s the 5th highest price guy in this field despite Vegas odds having him lower. He WD last week at the last minute likely just to avoid the travel and likelihood of food poisoning, but we’d rather grab the guys around him. This is a pure value versus ownership play. The DFS community loves to play Ollie. They won’t be scared off of him despite the WD, but odds are he won’t return value in DraftKings points at $9,900.
