Don’t Forget to Bring Your Clubs! Sunglasses? Check. Sunscreen? Check. Towel? Check. Golf clubs?! Check! If the beach is calling your name, there is no better way to get a little R&R than to head down to Aptos for the weekend, a beautiful coastline city located just outside of Santa Cruz. Make sure to set some time aside from the beach and the booze, and go check out the Seascape Golf Club, a beautiful green nestled right in the heart of Aptos.

Located a stone’s throw away from Beer Can Beach off of the scenic coastal highways of Monterey Bay, Seascape Golf Club provides guests with long, narrow fairways and beautiful greens. Known for its friendly staff and eucalyptus trees, Seascape features a 6,034-yard 18-hole course, a full practice facility, teaching services, a spacious clubhouse with a fully stocked pro shop, a restaurant & bar, and private event facilities.

A warm jacket is a necessity if you're heading out to the links in the morning as it can get quite brisk. Usually, the morning fog breaks up around noon, give or take an hour. Keep that in mind when preparing for the day as dressing in layers can keep you from overheating when the weather swings from cold and overcast to hot and sunny midday. You can’t see it, but you can feel the cool breeze drifting up from the sea all day. Don’t forget to book your tee time in advance. You can do so here.

After you’ve played golf, beached or boozed your heart out, you can check out the rest of what Aptos has to offer. If you’re looking to stretch the legs a little bit, you can head over to Nisene Marks State Park and go for a hike, jog or mountain bike ride on one of the many trails that twist and turn their way through the beautiful redwoods. You can also head over to Seacliff State Beach and snag one of their barbecue sites to chill out and relax. But don’t miss the S.S. Palo Alto while you’re there! Known as "the cement ship", the S.S. Palo Alto was the brainchild of Norwegian civil engineer who’s idea for a cement built ship was executed when wartime steel shortages called for an out-of-the-box solution from the Navy back in 1917. The S.S. Palo Alto is actually one of three cement ships that were built, however, World War One ended before construction was completed. You don’t have to look too hard to find it sitting at the end of the Seacliff fishing pier.
