We get it. Sometimes the best tee times fall squarely in the middle of your workday. And sometimes... your boss doesn’t need to know that.
That’s why we built Boss Mode — a stealthy new setting in 18Birdies that lets you play a round without broadcasting it to your entire friends list. Whether you're sneaking in 9 before lunch, grinding out a solo practice session, or “working remotely” from the fairway, Boss Mode’s got your back.
What Is Boss Mode?
Boss Mode lets you hide a specific round from select friends — like your boss, coworkers, or that one buddy who always gives you grief for playing too much.
When Boss Mode is on, your round is invisible to the people you choose:
- No push or email notifications
- No activity feed appearance
- No round history or score visibility
You’ll still have access to the round yourself — and any friends not on your "Hide From" list will still see it like normal. It’s a selective cloak of invisibility, golf-style.
How It Works
Turning on Boss Mode is simple and takes less than 10 seconds:
- On the Round Setup screen, tap Round Visibility.
- Select Friends.
- Tap Edit List under "Hide From".
- Choose the people you want to hide your round from.
- Hit Confirm and play your round in peace.
Why We Built It
Because you asked for it — a lot.
Golfers have been sneaking out for weekday rounds forever, and many of you told us you wanted a way to keep certain rounds... private. Whether it's to avoid judgment, protect your work reputation, or just skip the post-round banter in the group chat, Boss Mode gives you full control over who sees what.
After all, sometimes “I’m working” just means working on my game.
When to Use Boss Mode
- You’re slipping out for a midweek solo round.
- Playing without your usual foursome.
- Testing clubs or practicing with no pressure.
- Avoiding group chat questions like “Wait, you played today?!?”.
Boss Mode gives you the freedom to enjoy golf your way, without the digital trail.
