Week 4: Survive the Ocean Course | 18Birdies
18Birdies Week 4 The Ocean Course dream course campaign hero image
Atlantic wind. The Longest Major Venue Ever. America's Hardest Test.

Your next round could take you to Kiawah Island.

Some courses test your game. This one tests your nerves.

This summer, we are celebrating 10 million golfers on 18Birdies by sending one golfer and a guest to a different dream course every week for 10 weeks. Week 4 of 10 Million Golfers. 10 Dream Courses. 10 Weeks. heads to the East Coast, somewhere the wind, the water, and the history all conspire against you.

Set on a two-mile stretch of South Carolina coastline, this week's course has more oceanfront holes than anywhere else in the country. Sea grass swallowing wayward shots. Greens perched above the dunes. Wind rolling straight off the Atlantic with nowhere to hide. It is the kind of place that turns a calm afternoon into a fight, and a good round into a badge of honor, whether it is escaping one of Pete Dye's deep waste bunkers or holding your line on a par 3 with the ocean staring back at you.

This week, one 18Birdies golfer and a guest will get the chance to take on The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island.

🏆 One lucky winner will receive:

  • A round for two at The Ocean Course
  • A travel + hospitality cash stipend to help make the trip happen
  • A pair of Oakley Meta AI glasses: HSTN or Vanguard models

The Ocean Course Was Built to Punish the Best

The legend started before the course was even finished. Pete and Alice Dye built it in a race to host the 1991 Ryder Cup, and the "War by the Shore" gave it an introduction no other course has ever had. It has only grown since. Rory McIlroy romped to an eight-shot win here at the 2012 PGA Championship, and in 2021 Phil Mickelson became the oldest major champion in history at 50, hoisting the Wanamaker Trophy on the very same grounds.

Part of what makes it so brutal is the setting itself. Alice Dye had the entire course raised to sit level with the dunes, opening ocean views on every hole and, in the process, exposing all of it to the wind. It has been called the toughest course in America, and at nearly 7,900 yards it stands as the longest major venue ever played.

Now it is the Week 4 dream course in our summer-long celebration of reaching 10 million golfers.
