Your next round could take you to Spyglass Hill.
We’re heading back to the Monterey Peninsula, where this campaign started down the street at Pebble Beach.
Week 6 of 10 Million Golfers. 10 Dream Courses. 10 Weeks. brings us to Spyglass Hill, a Robert Trent Jones Sr. design with ocean holes, forest corridors, and a name pulled straight from Treasure Island lore.
The course opened in 1966 and joined the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am rotation one year later. Since then, it has become one of the great tests of California, with a front-nine stretch through dunes and ocean air before the course turns into the Del Monte Forest.
This week, one 18Birdies golfer and a guest will get the chance to play Spyglass Hill.
🏆 One lucky 18Birdies winner will receive:
A Course With a Bet Behind It
Spyglass Hill takes its name from Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island, and the course leans into the story. The opening hole is named “Treasure Island,” with more hole names pulled from the novel throughout the round.
The legend grew quickly. Bing Crosby once bet Jack Nicklaus that he couldn’t break par at Spyglass Hill. Nicklaus took the bet, shot a 2-under 70, and made the course’s reputation feel even bigger.
The first five holes move through oceanfront dunes and Pacific views. Then the routing turns inland, where the Del Monte Forest brings a totally different kind of pressure: narrower lines, bigger trees, and shot shapes that ask for commitment.
That mix is why Spyglass Hill feels like two rounds in one: part coastal treasure hunt, part championship test.
Log a qualified round on 18Birdies this week and you will earn an entry for your chance to win a round for two at Spyglass Hill, plus a cash stipend to help make the trip happen.
