Your next round could take you to TPC Sawgrass.
Week 7 of 10 Million Golfers. 10 Dream Courses. 10 Weeks. heads to the Florida swampland outside Jacksonville.
TPC Sawgrass opened in 1980 as the original Tournament Players Club and was built to become the permanent home of THE PLAYERS Championship. But the entire course lives in the shadow of one hole.
The par-3 17th, known simply as the Island Green, measures just 137 yards. It should be the easiest hole all week. Instead, it is the one every player thinks about before the round even starts.
This week, one 18Birdies golfer and a guest will get the chance to conquer TPC Sawgrass.
🏆 One lucky 18Birdies winner will receive:
A Hole Built to Test Everyone the Same Way
Pete Dye designed TPC Sawgrass to favor no single style of play, and nowhere does that show more than at 17. It does not matter if you are a scratch golfer or a 20-handicap weekend player. The wind, the water, and the pressure of that tiny green treat everybody the same.
Rory McIlroy has said that if the hole were surrounded by grass instead of water, it would be one of the simplest par-3s on Tour. Instead, it is the hole that decides championships, ruins scorecards, and sends more golf balls into the water than anyone wants to admit.
The rest of the course does not let up either. Dye carved narrow fairways through Florida wetlands, with waste bunkers, water, and angles that reward precision over power. It is a course that asks for nerve, not just distance.
Now it is the Week 7 dream course in our summer-long celebration of reaching 10 million golfers.
